Professional Chainsaw Carver

It’s always a surprise to people when during ice breakers in big meetings they ask me to share something unique about myself and I throw out the chainsaw carver card.

I’ve been carving since 2005 and cannot express how much I enjoy it. It is a great stress reliever after a day of meetings and major decisions. It is the ultimate way to express my creativity with much noise and sawdust everywhere. I’ve carved in multiple competitions and have sculptures all over southwest Michigan. A week at the fair is always a great break even though carving for seven straight days can take every bit of energy out of you. This is one of my balances to the stress of the office. A necessity to survival and hobby that releases my creativity.

How do I do it?

I gotta be honest, I don’t know sometimes. When the vision comes, the saws go to work.

I’ve carved for the Wildlife Turkey Federation, Disabled Vet Freedom Hunt, local Non Profits, Schools, Churches, Municipalities and even small groups.

Memorials and unique carvings that have deep meaning are my specialty.

Of course I do the typical eagles, bears and more.

I’m probably best known locally for carving the worlds largest ice cream cone at a local business which is 16′ tall, or maybe the praying hands along side a country road at 12′ tall, or simply “the guy that carves at the fair”.
